Leisure Activities

Students may take part in various sports and recreational activities outside the classroom.  There is a fully equipped basketball court located on campus next to a state-of-the-art fitness center complete with all modern equipment.  With the construction of a championship-level playing field and the establishment of new sports programs, the University is entering an exciting new era as a Caribbean sporting Institution. SJSM wants to sponsor teams for competition in football, cricket, net ball and track.

As for the off campus activities, the waters off the island's coast have been declared a marine park, which has led to Bonaire being ranked as one of the finest scuba diving and snorkeling destinations in the world.  The island is also great for windsurfing, ocean and sea kayaking and sailing.  Other off campus activities include cycling, nature tours through the "kunuku" or outback, bird watching and bungee jumping.

There are a number of Oceanside bars and cafes, often with live music played by one of the island's musical groups.  Divi Flamingo Beach is the place to be if you are feeling lucky.  This establishment houses a casino with thrilling slots and exciting table games.  The island also features Movieland Cinema where you can view the latest movies.
