News and EventsJuly 2010 Newsletter Student Newsletter 02-02 July 2010 6-9-2010 - Clinical Students
As part of its continuing efforts to achieve excellence in medical education, Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM), has instituted a new policy whereby clinical students will need to take a short exam of less than 50 questions covering the core clinical area just completed. This policy will be in effect for all core rotations which start after July 1st 2010. This policy does not apply to rotations which are already completed. The exam scores will count towards 25% of your grade from that clinical rotation. Before you can take the exam, you must register for the Exam Master online testing service via our library web site. The purpose of this announcement is to ask you to please register to our Exam Master system. Anyone who has already registered does not need to register again.
Description of online exams: The clinical student will receive an email letting him or her know that the exams are available for the core rotation that he or she is currently completing. After that, when the clinical student logs in to Exam Master, he or she will see the exams in each of the following core clinical areas: Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery.

Dear Dr. Pandit, The American College of Physicians (ACP) Chapter in Maryland held their annual meeting in Baltimore. The annual Doctor's Dilemma contest was held with 14 teams from Maryland participating (11 resident teams and three student teams). I was sent along with three other students to represent the Harbor Hospital student team. We won the student competition against the two other hospitals: Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland. We then competed against residents from Johns Hopkins and Johns Hopkins Bayview. We were performing fairly well much to the amazement of our residents and the directors at Harbor hospital. Although we didn’t win the second round, we finished with a very competitive score. This made a very good impression on all the medical directors present especially since we were students competing against residents.
We were presented with certificates from the ACP (Maryland Chapter) and also received recognition at the Annual Medical Staff meeting at Harbor Hospital. I was also asked where I had attended medical school by a few of the medical directors after the competition and I was proud to say that I graduated from Saint James School of Medicine.
Thank you for the continued encouragement and support.
Sincerely, Amisha Kamath
