Sandrine Thuret is a neuroscientist who is exploring a fairly new field of research. This field is the phenoneman called neurogenesis, which is the act of growing new brain cells as adults. The hippocampus in the brain is essentially the headquarters for our learning and memory. As humans, we produce 700 new neurons per day within the hippocampus. While this may seem small compared to the several billions of neurons in our brains, by the time we turn 50 we will actually have exchanged all the neurons we were born with. So how can we impact neurogenesis in a positive way? Well, it will have a little something to do with our diets.
