Sleep may help the brain “unlearn” strongly ingrained biases (such as stereotypes), and sleep deprivation may make those biases more resistant to unlearning. A recent study reported in Science concludes that memory reactivation during sleep enhances counter stereotype training and that maintaining a bias reduction is sleep-dependent.
